With great gratitude for all of my dedicated clients who I have worked with for these six years, I will be moving business to town. The valley has been home for my family for 14 years. The seasons have changed. Town is waiting for us, so we are making the move. It has been a pleasure to work with clients in and near my home while my business matured and I gained insight, experience, and practice hours. This is a success story. I cannot keep up with my own book keeping. The laundry overflows into my evenings. Administrative tasks are prioritized, so the kids learn to make their own supper. I am rich in clients. And so greatful.

Now, I am ready to set aside that fierce independence that drives me to do all of my own everything. I would love some help with my business life. I have met Therese and Alex who work behind the desk at the clinic, and expressed my relief and gratitude for their skills and efforts. I am looking forward to the opportunity to focus on new professional relationship building and practicing in a new environment. I will be delighted to see any of my Valley clients join me in the new clinic space downtown Castlegar.

Dear current and potential clients,

Here is what will change starting January 1st, 2025. These changes ensure your therapist is compensated properly and fairly for the experience and skills brought to every treatment.

1. Strait fee. There will no longer be a sliding scale offered for payment. In order to cover the cost of office rental, yearly registration fees and continuing education, I can no longer accept payment less than the the standard Registered Massage Therapist fee schedule of $110/hour. I will not be increasing fees this year.

2. ICBC client fee. I provide direct billing for ICBC clients for ease of access to services. ICBC does not cover the whole 60 minute appointment time or treatment plan reporting. Starting January 2025 clients will be charged $16.00 per treatment.

3. Missed appointments compensation. Missed appointments without 24 hours cancelation notice will be required to pay 50% of the missed appointment fee before rescheduling for a next appointment. Exceptions can be made for emergencies.

With these adjustments in place, I will be glad to see each and every one of you, as I bring my best intentions to the work with you every day. I love what I do, and hope to continue joyfully serving the valley.

Where are we Now?

And mostly, Why are we Doing what we Do?

I have been looking forward to finding these words. They have been rolling around a while, gathering momentum, this idea I have begun to talk to clients about. I would like to suggest that there is no specific modality, or therapy, or therapist that is more or less appropriate in any healing situation. I have great gratitude that you come to me and request my services. I love my job. I love everything about massage therapy. I would like to suggest that any therapist is capable of setting the tone, and offering their tools to contribute to a positive healing experience. It looks to me like whatever we feel inspired to offer, as long as it is with honesty, integrity, and to the best of our ability, is actually just a simple welcoming opportunity for the body/mind/spirit to open/wake up/realign.

It's just an invitation.

I set the safe space, show up with the best intentions, and dance the body back to life. Reset. Remember.

We Have Moved!

Shade Tree Massage Therapy clinic office has moved! You may still see sheets hanging on the line in the back yard, but the old office space has been given over to the youth of the house. I am very pleased to be able to open up the office at a new location 2 k North of Winlaw on the Slocan River side, at the Sandbox office space.

Driving North of Winlaw, it is the next driveway after Telford Road. Turn across from the "Slow" sign.

Driving South down Hwy 6, it is the 2nd driveway after you come out of the sharp left turn. If you reached Fomies, you've gone to far.

Pull in and park on the right. The office space is along the river side of the building.

Great gratitude for all those valley folks who were able to bring themselves in to the clinic this past year. I am honored to have been a part of your journey to maintain, recover, and receive theraputic treatment. Working with you has been a gift and a joy as we seek to live fully in the moment and for the betterment of body and mind. Connection keeps us alive. Thank you for sharing your hopes and discomforts, so we can breath thru and open up those places of holding and restriction. Seeing you recover makes me sure.. . .that this is exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up.

Meet your Massage Therapist.

The journey began with a summer course that focused on palliative and wheelchair massage. The Kootenay Columbia College of Massage Therapy (formerly ACOS) opened it's doors in 2016 to the first class to enroll in it's Massage Therapy program. The eight of us lived and loved and labored together in the two year intensive, 3000+ hours of training.

The Winlaw office was opened in the summer of 2019 to serve the Slocan Valley. The benefits of receiving massage treatments close to home are yours now. Please don't hesitate to contact me about availability or rates. I can direct bill a number of insurers listed with telus.com/eclaims. Those with supplementary benefits provided by MSP can request a reimbursement form from me. Payment can be made by cash, check, or e-transfer.
